**Penny Spud** is a common item in tibo.dog. In-game description: “+8% gold gain.”

## Overview

Penny Spud is a common stat item that adds 0.08 greed (gold gain). Copies stack additively. It is one of eight Common items of equal weight, so with no luck it is about 7.4% of random item rolls.

Gold gain multiplies every coin Tibo picks up: gold = value × `(1 + greed) × (1 + 0.5 × curse)` (see [Stats](/stats)). One Penny Spud is +8% gold, added to other greed sources such as [Golden Fry](/passives/golden-fry) (+0.12 per level) and [Golden Gravy](/items/golden-gravy). Chest gold and the Moldy Shrine payout are also scaled by gold gain (see [Chests](/chests#gold-in-chests) and [Curse](/curse)).

## Tips

- Gold buys [Potato Crates](/points-of-interest#potato-crate), [Fry Cart](/points-of-interest#fry-cart) items and [Tater Slots](/points-of-interest#tater-slots) spins. A Penny Spud only pays off when you spend that gold, so it suits runs that route through those points of interest.
- Curse also raises gold gain, and the two multiply, so greed is worth a little more in cursed runs.

## Obtaining

- Items come from [points of interest](/points-of-interest) such as the Fry Cart vendor, Potato Crates, the Microwave and Tater Slots, and from loot runners (Golden Scarab, Lost Saucer). Ordinary [chests](/chests) never give a new item; they can only evolve one you already hold. Rarity weights: Common 59, Uncommon 25, Rare 10, Epic 4, Legendary 2.
