Compost Maggot

#Overview

The Compost Maggot is the tier-1 pest of Compost Caves, and the only one, so almost all of the caves' early spawns are maggots. On Normal, tier-1 pests make up 8 in 9 spawns until 4:00, become a minority from 5:00 and stop spawning at 9:00 (10:00 on Easy). As a tier-1 pest it is never an elite.

It crawls straight at Tibo at speed 32 and hurts only on contact, for 3 base damage. It has 8 base HP and no mass, so knockback moves it the full distance. A kill gives 1 XP and a 3% chance of a coin.

It is not the same pest as the Maggot that the Compost Titan summons, which is far more dangerous: 30 HP, 10 damage and speed 50.

#Tips

• Maggots are slow and weak, so the early caves are a comfortable place to collect XP. The real step up comes when Cave Grubs, with three times the HP, take over the spawns.
