Fertilizer

#Overview

Fertilizer makes every XP gem worth more. Each level adds 0.08 XP gain, so gems give ×1.08 XP at level 1 and ×1.40 at level 5. More XP means more level-ups, and each level-up is another weapon or passive card (see Level-up).

It is the catalyst for three evolutions: Big Fry (from Small Fry), Overgrowth (from Seeker Sprouts) and Potato Patch (from Seed Potato).

#How it works

Picking up an XP gem adds its value times Tibo's XP gain multiplier.^[1] That multiplier is (1 + XP gain) × (1 + 0.5 × curse) × difficulty XP (see Stats). The three parts multiply, so Fertilizer at level 5 together with Rotten Spud at level 5 (curse 0.5) gives 1.4 × 1.25 = ×1.75 before the difficulty factor.

Other XP gain sources are Compost Tea (+0.06) and Spud Shrine blessings. These add to Fertilizer's total.

#Tips

• XP gain pays off over the rest of the run, so it is worth more the earlier you take it. Late in a run, when most of your weapons and passives are already maxed, extra levels matter less.
• Fertilizer works well with Potato Magnet, which brings gems in from farther away.

#Levels

Totals are added to Tibo's stat sum. How each stat turns into a multiplier (caps and diminishing returns) is on Stats.
